Puffing Billy Railways, Melbourne

Visited the Puffing Billy Railways in Melbourne recently. A very famous and popular tourist attraction indeed. There were many tour buses and groups that come here to see the steam trains and aren’t they exciting.

_DSC6282

Most of the pictures here would be sort of hit and run because it was raining that day.

You can also climb up the cab while you’re there. Remember, arrive early if you want to avoid the crowd in your pictures. I arrived at least 45 minutes early and I got really good shots.

_DSC6266

_DSC6299

That’s no.8A, it’s going to have to double-header later because of the number of the coaches they’re expecting to pull that morning.

You can get on and off any station along this line. We bought a return ticket: Belgrave <> Emerald.

_DSC6364

If weather permits, you can always stick your legs out…but really, don’t leave your babies on the windows…they’ll probably slip out

_DSC6379

And there’s the most exciting part of the whole train ride. The wooden trestle bridge.

_DSC6410

_DSC6426

You can always get down at Menzies Creek, which is the next station after Belgrave.

_DSC6445

Then there’s the Emerald station, where the live Thomas the Tank Engine show would be held every now and then. Of course, you’d have to check for the showtimes.

_DSC6463

Then there’s this…One of the World’s Largest working model railways..LOL

It’s inspiring. It’s a mixture between OO/HO scale models. Please do check it out…it’s 7 dollars per entry… and it’s nice if everyone can show him some support so he can keep the models going. Loved it so much!!! It’s like a childhood dream come true.

Again on the trestle bridge, heading back to Belgrave station.

WEAR LONG SLEEVES. Period. They’d swoop down fast at you and stand on your shoulders, arm….seriously, anything they can get their claws on.

After feeding those hungry birds…we went to find ourselves some real food!

Pie in the Sky is the place when you come up the Dandenong Ranges.

_DSC6650

Got myself the Korma Chicken pie…which is just amazing. You probably can’t find it anywhere else in Malaysia for that matter.

_DSC6649

_DSC6765

And to end to day, we visited the National Rhododendron Garden (that’s a mouthful isn’t it)

Nothing much that’s exciting….just some trees and plants and flowers and sky…

Again….thank you for staying till the end. ~_^

Capsule @ Klia2 :) making the best out of an unexpected delay...cant wait to see mom and dad #melbournehereicome

Totally worth it when you're just super tired and worn out after travelling all day long or you've missed your flight...like me...(long long story..)
Haha anyway, there's a few packages you can pick from. I paid RM55 for 3 hours of sleep and you can shower however long you like (please don't destroy Earth in the process, use water wisely ~.^). If you just need to shower, you always can get away with RM20 (totally not worth it). But yea...really do come here to get away from the noise and crowd in KLIA2 while waiting for your flight... I waited for 10 hours for that matter T.T

My film cameras

I know this post is way long overdue and I’d just want to put up some pictures about my film cameras. I’ve been longing to buy the Nikon FA or Fe or FM (still can’t decide after so long). Anyway I’ve been having 2 film cameras with me for some time… and they are DIY cameras…yep my favourite! It’s nice when you can get the best of both worlds.

_DSC3561

This P-Sharan DIY pinhole camera was given to me by a good friend. Just gonna show you guys some results from this pinhole camera and why you shouldn't consider using ISO 800, ever.

Oh look, the wands from Dumbledore’s Army.

This is what the actual kit looks like. It come unpainted and black. All black and dull I know…so with a little work and creativity I made mine a two-tone silver and black. I used cheapo silver paint and some leftover semi-gloss black from Tamiya. You can still get it from “The click shop” in Malaysia for about 200 bucks? Can’t remember, really. You can buy the basic kit, without the hood and the 2 extra plastic lenses. It’s much cheaper. I’d say I never used those anyway. It’ll be a fun project for a day and it’s really rewarding in the end knowing that you built a functional camera. Paint it and make it uniquely yours. They also come with fake leather strips for you to stick them on the camera.

(BTW, there’s a version for you to connect a flash, but not for mine…go do some research and get the right one if you need a flash. I don’t need no flash.)

_DSC3558

Yes my desk is extremely messy!

_DSC3090

Here are some of my favourites using the Konstruktor SUPER KIT!!! It all boils down to your skill of judging the capability of the film speed. Over or underexposure really really depends on you and that’s exciting. I really had some luck using ISO200 and 400 so far…again don’t try using 800 if you don’t know what you’re doing. This is not exactly a pro camera (I’ve seen people complain about how difficult it is to use it especially when you have to constantly strain your eyes and neck) see, that’s why it’s called hipster…you put the camera on the level of your hips! (not sure, I think I made that up on my own)

000036

000039

000030

Oh!!! Wait!! Lastly I’d like to share some more quirky photos using a disposable camera and quirky weird films with words on the films….it’s really cool. You’d probably only be able to find it on Urban Outfitters. It’s costs about 15-20 GBP?? I’m not too sure…but yea…here are some of the results!

000004

One thing about film is that it is somewhat unpredictable. Every grain, light leak and framing, basically everything can be unexpected. Unlike modern days where everything is instant. Our addiction to instant gratification probably has made us less patient and lack the ability to savour each and every second in life (please take my words with a bucket of salt, I’m not that wise). I think film is just as exciting as a part of photography. I know, I know it’s expensive to buy film buy new gear and to develop the films. But it is really rewarding when you hold your new photographs in your hands. It’s just magical I would say. It also makes you think and plan before pressing the trigger. I’ve owned a few DSLR’s over the past 6-7 years and my digital files keep on accumulating. I thought at one point of time where I just needed to stop being trigger happy and slow down to enjoy every moment while travelling instead of being engrossed in pressing that shutter button. I think this digitalisation of photography is an excellent idea but we don’t make good use of it. Many of us just simply make snapshots without thinking…then going home editing them one by one…while thinking why the pictures always come out sucky. Well, probably we never put thought into a picture so it comes out…thoughtless, soulless, empty…there’s no story to tell. I once read somewhere, a famous photographer said…(somewhere along the lines la harrr) said: If people only said how sharp your picture is, you fail..? because that means people only concentrate on the technical aspects and not the message/story you want to convey.

000030

HAHAHA anyway, that’s about it…don’t take me seriously ok…seriously hahaha

and have a HAPPY FUCKING BIRTHDAY!

Lomography Redscale film

Today, I got my Lomo Redscale ISO100 Film....#filmisnotdead
So yea, to all you peeps in Penang, you still can have your films developed and scanned at Kong Beng Photo Studio, right opposite Komtar, the "spider" pedestrian crossing side... I got my 4 rolls of film done there recently and they kindly refunded me RM4 because the last Lomo 800 was all overexposed despite using a pinhole. Lesson learned, don't bother with ISO 800 (Yes I suck) LOL

No edit, scanned straight after developing. If I'm not mistaken, this was a ISO 200 taken using my Lomo Konstruktor F....Mmmm yums siew mai....

Most expensive green tea in my life :P Kampachi, JPO

So....today I went to drop off a friend at Senai Airport, Johor in the evening.
It was like, awhh mannnn, I have to drop by JPO to see what's the fuss all about this place, just 10 mins away. Uh huh, nothing much, premium brands where a poors kids likes mees is the no monehhh to buy shit they sell over here. So screw the branded stuff, walks like a baus into Kampachi (having no idea where I heard of this name of awesomeness and expensive-ness).  I walked like, head held high...thick face skin (direct translation from hokkien): table for 1 sir (pfftt don;t judge, you puny waiter) ANYWAYZ....sat down, opens up menu...
HORY FARK...would you look at the price!? Then it caught me, Kampachi by Equatorial!
Anywayzzzzz... I ordered a pot of green tea (it wrote: "with a hint of vanilla" well somewhere along that line) so I ordered that and yes it was good...really really good. At least it didn't taste like those free green tea you get at Sushi King...yucks.  (It's free, don't complain!) Expensive shizz, but hell ya it was good. Ordered the set meal with shashimi and tempura which costs RM74...the tea was RM24...seriously, I kid you not. total of 98 bucks for 1 meal....yes..ONE! That's a whole week worth of groceries. But it was worth it. They didn't have the sakura infused ice-cream....ahhh....you like the sound of that do you...ahh..mmmm yums...BUT NO! THEY FREAKING DON'T HAVE SAKURA ICE-CREAM...HULK MODE ON B*TCH! ARGHH! You denied my taste buds to ice-cream and HELL NO. I'm not eating your wasabi ice-cream pfttt....
Do you people believe in "The Secret" because I do. So as I was munching down, contemplating whether should I swallow all this food, or grow an extra stomach like a cow, to regurgitate and re-digest all these food...a thought came into my mind: "damn wouldn't it be awesome like, every time you see in the movies, like, this shit is good, I need to meet the chef, those kind of scenes" and then *poof * the thought of it just...strayed off into the abyss.... And sure enough after my meal, while sipping tea, the senior chef came out to greet me and asked how was my food! I was like...what...the...heck...no...way... It was just a thought. OK. Awkward alert.
"hehe, ya it was good" duhh of course it was good even though I hated one of the fish (I couldn't tell what fish was it but it tasted like fish left to drown in butter for weeks. But who would have thought the chef would come meet their customers. See, I told you The Secret is real (go read that book, now!) So yea, that's the end of my little adventure. ERM what's in JPO you ask...well, Nike, G2000, DOME, Starbucks, coffee beans, some western beer place, BR ice cream, expensiveshoesclothespantsandthingsIdon'twant. yup that's all.
Now shooo! Back to work.

Gramo WHAT?

Look at what my GF got on her extravagant shopping spree (not exactly a shopping spree but still extravagant purchase, really) She ordered it online recently (not quite recent considering when this post got updated)
It's really pretty in a way but it's (insert negative comments here) because the sound frequencies are rather limited and it's kind of like...clipped? Not quite sure what the technical terms you self-proclaimed audiophile peeps use (I've learnt music for years I can't tell sh*t difference, can't even differentiate a C and a G)
The highs and lows are clipped out, making it... this warm old-school music sounds...REALLY old-school... it makes you tear up, so nostalgic...so much feels...FEELS b*tch...FEELSSSS.... feels like the 80's (I've never been there, ya' know, me, 90's kid yo!)

It doesn't work well for modern day music because as I said, the bass is non-existent. We tried modern songs and they sounded so dead...the background and instrumental sounds are extremely soft. Songs that were clearly recorded way before the 2000's sound so much better (please take this with a pinch...I meant a BUCKET of salt...)

All in all, still a beautiful centre piece for your home...if you've got too much money to burn... Please be generous and donate them to me instead of wasting your money on something like this. Better off with other Bluetooth speakers from Sony or Pioneer or Logitech (me no likey) or Samsung (please don't get me started >:( or Panasonic or Bose (walau eh, expensive sia but still sound the same like 500 ringgit 5.1ch surround Pioneer) sorry for the rant LOL just wonderful seeing people fight over different brands despite most if not all of them are made in China...again, BUCKET of salt please.

No where to spend your money? try this: http://www.gramovox.com/
or support your local charity instead, they need it.

Craaaaabs

Super Crab seafood restaurant in Sungai Ara, Penang yo!!
Tasty, delicious, scrumptious, glorious CRABS...promo (yea, every time I go there they say the same thing...promo) 2 crabs for RM55 which is, well, fairly cheap...not really. But please do drop by for craaaaaabs

PS: they took over Cherry Blossoms the old Thai food restaurant...sobss...

B'coz...coffee...

Had to reward myself for passing EOS 9 recently....went on 11street.my to find this on sale (no, Harvey Norman had it for cheaper but pfffttt getting stuck in Kluang wasn't helping).
Anyway I paid RM483 including shipping. Thought of buying the deLonghi retro style at first but Morphy Richards made a cheaper and cooler looking one...
yep...mah itchy hands had to get it!
